After reading the 4 Hour Work Week I decided to check into the other books he put in the “Restricted Reading” section. The restricted reading is going on a low information diet to help quiet the head and make life a little more sane. I have indulged in some of his advices such as limiting checking my email to 2 times a day and have found that it gives me more time, less stress and I am more relaxed throughout the day now too. Not constantly thinking about email and hitting the pelletized cocaine retrieval button 80 times a day, I have more time to do more important things with my time. Like spending more time with my daughter walking around the neighborhood, or working on other Niche Sites I am developing like RockabillyLifestyle.Com, which I probably have to much crap on right now, which is in itself another story.

The Magic of thinking big by David Schwartz, is the book I decided to start reading, and goes into some theory that I have always thought to be true before I read the book, and that is you can change a persons day, attitude or demeanor, with an expression of kindness, or treating them as “Important”, and not just another person to step on.

It’s not just about someone else though, it’s all about You. Your actions, the way you think, the way you treat other people and how you react to others and certain situations. It’s geared to help you become bigger than what you are now, a better person, and help you to succeed in what you do in all aspects of your life not just your jobs or financial goals. True it is about learning to be successful and succeeding, but it’s got a bigger broader picture. It goes through a whole range of thinking practices and misinformation’s.

* Build Confidence and Destroy Fear
* Think and Dream Creatively
* You Are What You Think You Are

Whenever I am about to talk to someone I now pause and mentally think about what I am going to say to them. I try to stay on the positive side of things and this is one huge thing I was happy he covered. When you have to approach someone about the job they are doing, and it may not be so good, it gives examples how to approach it and keep it positive while also addressing the situation at hand.

Success is not so much about how big you are or how big your company is, it’s about how big your thinking is, and how it makes others feel. It focuses on and retrains your mind to get out of the mind trappings of daily life and think big, bigger than you used to.

The book, first published in 1965, is still a classic and currently read by many people and has practical advice and guides for today’s world. Those reading this currently are big time CEO’s, life coaches, and many other successful professionals. If you get the audio book, just be prepared as the author is part of the narrative and sounds a little dated, but it’s still an excellent listen. I highly recommend The Magic of thinking big by David Schwartz.

Killing me with Kindness – For a Better World

One of the blogs I follow is http://www.thrillingheroics.com, because I like what this guy is doing. Sure he’s traveling the world and living the good life of an entrepreneur, but he’s also stopping at orphanages around Bangkok and Thailand and helping them. There’s one post I was just reading and watched the video here, “My Secret Recipe for 100% Guaranteed Happiness”. I couldn’t stop balling my eyes out and wanting to hold my daughter and never let her go. The feelings that well up inside me make me want to get this whole thing right, that much more. This whole Entrepreneur thing and living a better life to help others live a better life too. Damn this tears my heart out.

I know I can still help others live a better life now, but I want to make more of a difference than I can at the moment. I would love to be able to donate lot’s of money to specific organizations and charities to help little children like those. The smiles on faces and lights in the eyes are what make me live. My life changed when my daughter was born, for the better, no, for the best, it’s ever been. I see things in a whole different light, both scary and happy. Scary because I never want her to go through the shit I went through, and happy because I know she will have the best I can give her. Always.

I’ve lived in the streets, turned my life around and recovered from drug addiction, and when I was unemployable I put myself through tech school to make a better life for myself. I am not proud of where I have come from but it has made me what I am today. That is a matter of controversy to some but I say I am on the road to being the best person I can be. I am an up standing father to the most precious little girl and boy friend to a beautiful woman who stands by my side. What more could I ask for?

A better earth.

I’m for a better earth.

A place where people don’t kill themselves over religion, where people don’t have children needlessly and then abuse or abandon them, where things are better than they are now.

It all starts with one person, it starts with me, now.

What are YOU going to do for this world? ANSWER ME THAT!

I fear for my daughters world. Monsanto, the huge GMO conglomerate of a cluster fuck company. Makers of Agent Orange, Roundup Weedkiller and other deadly chemicals. The people who fund mass corruption. The patent holders of a life organism, as well as other corrupt people, places and ideals. If we don’t change things NOW, we’re going to be up shit’s creek without a paddle. I’m serious, why do you think people are speaking out about global warming and other changes in climate? It’s not just their imagination. It’s real. I can tell you my parents who live in D.C. where is used to snow more have not experienced snow fall like they used to 25 years ago, it’s much less due to global warming.

Have you noticed there’s not many protests except those protesting abortion and such? The passionately angry? The people who are not going to stand for any more of whatever they believe in? It sickens me when people complain about where the world is heading and then tell me they didn’t vote, or didn’t do something that could have changed the outcome results of a poll or decision. Go fuck Yourself, if you bitch and complain about something but didn’t do something that could have changed things, IT’S YOUR FAULT ALONE. Fucking Tard.

Passionately Angry, yeah that’s me. It bothers me to see protests for things that people don’t really understand. It bothers me to see no one protesting things they do understand and do nothing about. If you are sick and tired of the way things are, then do something about it. Stand for something or fall for anything. Go to Jail for it. Be a hero. Do something for the good of humanity.

I’ve been reading and listening to Timothy Ferris’ The 4-Hour Workweek book and audio, and am impressed beyond belief at how simple he makes it sound. I really like the audio book best and the book as a reference companion. I usually take the audio with me to the gym and on the road when I am driving. It’s funny when I’m at the gym, and I start busting out laughing and all heads turn and I remember where I am. Oh yeah, I’m at the gym. It’s that funny.

I’m implementing a lot of what Ferris talks about in his book. From getting a VA(Virtual Assistant) to answering calls only at 2 time periods per day, to responding to emails only at 2 time periods per day too. I’m doing this to free up needed time to enjoy whats really important to me. My Daughter.

I don’t have a steady 9-5 job, I don’t want one and nor have I had one in over 5 years of being laid of from my last employer. I will never go back and work for “The Man” ever again. If I can help it, and I’ve done pretty good so far. I prefer to get up at 8am or earlier and have my tea, stretch and get a cheese danish from the local coffee shop. THEN come home, check email and start my days proceedings.

Which brings to mind another thought I had yesterday while standing on the corner trying not to get hit by all the mad people rushing to work, while putting mascara on in the mirror and trying to drive to make the almighty buck. Yeah that life just isn’t for me anymore. The mascara part I mean, no really the driving to work for a 9-5′er and being tied to someone else’ money making venture. I stood there and realized just how lucky, maybe not lucky but how good I have it.

I’m standing there, cheese danish in hand for my 8 weeks pregnant(Again ) girlfriend, who is having the weird cravings thing, watching the line of frantic people driving off to work. Standing there wondering if I’m going to be able to cross the street, because no one is stopping to let me cross even though pedestrians have the right of way.

Yeah, I’ll continue to read the current book I’m reading, which I suggest you do as well, “The 4-Hour Workweek“, and think about what YOU are going to do to better this world, when you have the money to quit your job.

I know what I’m going to do. I’m going to stop in on Cody McKibben on my way to Angkor Wat someday if he’s still there when I get there. I’ll spend some time changing diapers at the orphanages and being grateful for what I have, help out where ever I can, then head off to see the jungle temples in Cambodia.

I give myself two years to make it.

I run a few niche sites that I sell eBooks on, and I thought I would disclose on of my sites for people to see and understand how I make money from them. These sites that I run are called Niche Sites, and How I make money from them is simple.

1. I produce an eBook for the site
2. I write articles about the specific niche I am targeting
3. I people to sign up for a mini tutorial sent through email to help bring people back to my site
4. I choose keywords that are high traffic, low competition and low search results
5. I built a website and place the eBook on it for sale
6. I include some articles on the site for people to read and to get their interest growing so they want to buy the eBook
7. I use article marketing with article directories to drive traffic to my site
8. Once it’s set up and running, it’s low maintenance, I just let it generate money for me and I do very little once it’s running.

This is a nice little way of having passive residual income coming in.

I stumbled upon this article tonight that just about puts it all out there for everyone to use. The articles goes from start to finish the steps to building a niche site and marketing it and page ranking it. Building a Niche Minisite (Part 1)

On another note, my wife and I were able to get a baby sitter tonight and go out on a date. We went to Sushi, for the first time in 11 months. The last time was when my parents were in town visiting us and the new addition to the family, our daughter Sarah. So tonight was really nice to just get out, away from teh house, and have a little quiet time together eating raw fish. Yum!

We then went down by the bay and drove the harbor front, and stopped in Little Italy for a coffee. There was an art walk going on and interestingly enough there were a few older folks out speaking Italian. Imagine that, in Little Italy.

Well I am off to bed, I will be back at it tomorrow as I start work on the new niche sites I have planned for the Case Study #1. I am also going to get started the 3 new dating sites I am bringing up for 3 other different niche sites. Yeah I have a lot on my plate right now, but hey, that’s how I roll.

The ten steps to start and run a successful dating site.

1. Find a Niche that may not be met or fulfilled – Possibly a medical need, or a handicap type need, or cultural need. Think Jewish dating, or dating for amputees or Gay Midget Dating
2. Research the searches per month and search result with Google and Google Keyword Tool, to determine need and effective placement in search engine ranking. Decide if the niche you picked is going to work, if not start over.
3. Review and choose the dating site software to run the site.
4. Hire a programmer to customize the site, if you aren’t code savvy.
5. Make the site a totally free dating site, to help populate it.
6. Do SEO work for search engine placement and build back links for traffic.
7. Article submissions for attention and SEO Ranking.
8. Start charging for premium accounts(more email sending capability, better visibility of profiles, or other perks)
9. Start charging for advertising(once traffic is high)
10. Enjoy recurring payments for membership, recurring advertising payments, or flip for profit.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Do you ever go to a coffee shop late at night and just sit there and relax and people watch? or take your laptop and headphones and browse the net, and people watch? I do and I love it. As long as I have my laptop and an internet connection I am good to go. There are several sites I like getting podcasts from and free pdfs reports and blueprints, and I will just sit and read or listen to a podcast and zone out.

These are some of my most favorite ways to come up with ideas for more niches or ways for online marketing. At a coffee shop I can sit and watch people and just totally relax, and when I relax that’s when the creative ideas start to flow. I see things, people, interactions, needs or wants and they give me ideas. Ideas turn into pdf reports or downloads or attachments I send out to my email list. Sometimes they go viral and the next thing I know I am joint venturing with someone doing a new niche site or membership site.

All you need is:

• a laptop
• headphones
• a couple of dollars(for coffee)
• nothing else to do
• and a cool loungy coffee shop

I go to coffee shops to get away from it all, to get away from the house, the wife, the daughter and just decompress. Unwind from a long day of either coding that new niche site or dating site and not being bothered by anyone. In my own little world.

I can even watch a netflix movie or some TV episode if I want from netflix, with the watch instantly feature. I can also go to Amazon.Com and get some episodes of Battlestar Galactica or some other TV or movie and watch those as well. The list goes on…

I love being wired…

I am constantly on the go and since I have been in Internet Marketing and Niche Marketing, my brain thinks a little differently sometimes. When I come across something that is a possible need, my head starts to churn it around up there and think of possible niches or ways of using that as a money maker. Before I do anything else there are a few places I like to go when I have an idea that I want to investigate. A few of these places are:

A)

1. Google Keyword Search Tool – To see what sort of search numbers come up for that word or word phrase.
2. Google Trends – I then punch it into Google trends to see what sort of trends are coming up with that word or word phrase
3. If Google trends doesn’t turn anything up then I go to Google Insight, even if it does turn something up I still go to Google Insight anyway.
4. Then I end up at just Google and do a search with quotes around the phrase to see how many results come up for that specific phrase. If the results are 10,000 or less, and the search results from the Keyword Tool are over 1,000  then I feel like IO may have a Possible Profitable Niche to exploit.

B)

1. Amazon.com – I Might go there with my possible niche to see if anyone is searching for that topic in the form of a book, if so I take note of that book.
2. If I am not going to Amazon.com with a phrase or topic I will just go with the intention of looking at whats in the Best Selling Categories. This is another place to find hot new niches to possibly profit from.
3. Most Gifted – a category on Amazon.com that is a good place to look as well as Most Wished
4. I also like to search specific topics and look at the customer reviews, sometimes looking at the number of reviews will give me a heads up as to that being a hot topic for a niche market.

C)

1. Ebay – Whats selling and whats being looked for? Look at Ebay Pulse for possible niche ideas. Especially if you are a review writer or an eBook/eReport writer, this is the place to see whats hot and get topics for reviews and reports to sell.
2. Ebays “Want It Now” – this is a place to go to find what people want RIGHT NOW. Another place to see and get ideas.

There’s plenty of places to go search right now with those three places. Anyone can take an idea or keyword, phrase adn search and find a niche that might be profitable. Beware though, don’t get caught up in the shiny things aisle. I am always bad with that, getting caught up reading and not doing my writing. “Oohhh, shiny, pretty…..oh look at the time slip by….”

Time…to play…

I have a favorite movie called Hellraiser, some of you may have heard of it, you know that movie with pinhead? Anyway, I love that movie for some strange reason, and I love that little box that everyone is always trying to get their hands on. I found a site that sells them and I ordered one a few years ago.

Quality Lacks

Well I finally got the box after months and many emails hassling the guy for either my money back or the box. when I finally got the box, it was already falling apart. the brass plates were peeling up at the corners and it was tarnished and it looks like he tried to sand the brass to shine it up. It was an unholy piece of crap.

My Vow to the world, or how I sold my soul…

I was pissed. No one should ever have to put up with what I did ever again, nor should this guy ever sell another piece of crap like that ato a Hellraiser fan, ever. So I decided I would make my own.

I got a scan of the box faces, had a friend who does autocad make a blueprint for me of the box faces. I found an etching house to etch the brass that is .005 of an inch thick, it’s thin as paper! Then I found a place that could cut me the 3″x3″x3″ cube of wood. I bought some black lacquer and some clear lacquer and off I went, I started making my own hellraiser boxes.

So I started making these things and I started giving them away to all my good friends. I had made about 15 that first run, and I realized when I was down to my last 2 that I had given them all away and not sold any of them. Well ok, call it self promotions, that was a good rationalization.

Ebay’s time to play…

I started to make my next batch and I decided I would sell these on Ebay and gt my money back to order more plates. The face plates alone were $800 for 25 sets. Each set is 6 plates, one for each face of the six sided cube. $32 for each box just for the brass plates alone, $5 for the lacquer which one can covered approximately 10-15 boxes. The cube of mahogany were about $5 each. Then there was my time into making them, and it took about 2 weeks to complete one box completely from start to finish. However I make the boxes in lots of 10-15 at a time so about $10 per box for my labor. Ok so roughly $50 for a box, what was my markup going to be?

Oh good, Competition…

I looked on Ebay and saw another guy selling them for an insanely low price. I had to email that guy and tell him he was hurting the market and to raise his prices. The theory behind this is that if you lower the price too low it hurt the industry  and the other people in that industry who are trying to make a living. It’s called devaluing the product by making the price so low there is no profit margin.

Well the guy actually did raise his prices and now I had some competition at $150 per box. He was selling them before for like 50$ per box. Insane. Well we both sold our boxes for $150 per box for a while and made a decent profit for a while. It’s not the same today in this economy.

The economy from hell…

I can tell that the economy is pretty bad because no one is buying the boxes anymore. I tried putting up 4 boxes a few weeks ago and deliberatly lowered the prices to about $75 and not a single one sold. I even put one up that was signed by Ashley Laurence, the girl who played Kirsty in the first 2 Hellraiser Movies, and no one bit on that either. A quality prop replica like I make is not easy to find at that price and for no one to bid even the lowest one any of them, it’s pretty bad out there.

I digress…

It’s the same in a lot of different industries that are luxury oriented. The boxes are a luxury, so is photography. I do photography on the side, and the only thing that is happening is baby photography right now, and that is a bit scarce.

So why is baby photography happening and the boxes aren’t? like I said, the boxes are a luxury and people don’t NEED them. Baby photography is somewhat a necessity for people. The need to document their families for historical purposes, for the sake of having pictures of their darling little babies. This is definitely something that people want and they consider it a NEED. Hellraiser Puzzle Boxes aren’t a NEED. They are a WANT. Big Difference.

Reeling it back in…

This is how I find my Niche markets that I plan to cater to. I find something that is a NEED and that people are desperate for. Sometimes its not really a NEED, it’s more of a desperate WANT. One of my Niches I am getting ready to exploit, is a segment in the dating industry.  Yes that’s right I said exploit. The definition I prefer to use is “To advertise; promote”. And not unethically.

I will be advertising and promoting a site that is geared towards a segment of the dating population that doesn’t seem to be hit right now. I found this at Google Insights. That is one place to find up and coming Niche markets, another place is Google Trends.  And yet another place is Amazon and Ebay. Just got to each one and look at the best sellers lists. Ebay has Pulse.

The think tank…

Another why I come up with my niche’s that I delve into is right here at The Niche Think Tank. Thats what I do here, I brainstorm and think and doodle and come up with new and nifty( that’s right, nifty) Niche Markets to Exploit. While I was sitting here writing this I started thinking about how I could get more people to bite on the Puzzle Boxes.

I go for several walks throughout the day and I am usually listening to one of Yaro Staracks Podcasts. While I was walking today thinking about the puzzle boxes and listeing to one of Yaros Podcasts, I had the idea to sell just the brass plates at a discount so that people could make their own. Then my Wife suggested a kit, sell them a 3×3x3 inch block of mahogany and the plates and instructions on how to put it all together. what a great idea. So there you have it, the start of yet another little money maker. Anyway I am hungry and I am going to go get some tacos at Ponces in Kensington.

Have you ever thought about writing an eBook or eReport and selling it on the Internet? Maybe you found the secret to getting the smell of cat pee out of the couch or how to get the dog to stop chewing your shoes or how to get a checking account when you are in the chex system?

If you have thought about doing this but never got around to it, or talked yourself out of it you could be talking yourself out of making a lot of money. I had never really thought about this until I ran across the title of a forum called “Desperate Buyers Only“.

My first knowledge of “Desperate Buyers Only” was through The Warrior Forums, and I did a little research on it and decided to buy it in June of 2009. It’s an eBook by Alexis Dawes and goes into how to find what people are desperate for, how to create an eProduct for this desperation, and then how to market it.

I read the book from start to finish and was thoroughly impressed. The book is about creating reports or ebooks for people with desperate problems. People are always searching the internet for the solution to a certain problem they may have and it’s these people this book focuses on to create a product for.

If you are a person with a problem that causes you social anxiety or fear or causes you to not do something, then you would be desperate to find a solution. When you find this solution you would be more than happy to pay money for it, right? Well there you go. It is this premise that you start your research on.

This book goes into finding a desperate market, research, wording and phrasing, and also goes into why online entrepreneurs fail. It talks about finding the niche market that will sell, and it’s not going with the crowd either. This book is in my opinion The Book for creating books and reports that really sell.

I couldn’t wait to start brainstorming and get a product out on the market to see how well this would work. I came up with a product that many people are desperate for, from my own personal experiences. I wrote my story, wrote the solution and gave some extra resources to help with this problem and wrote my sales page.

After uploading the sales page and uploading the product to my secure download service I started to drive traffic to the website each day. I made sure to only point a couple links per day, each week to the new site, so as not to sandbox the URL with Google.

Because of the keyword selection I did, the lack of product for this kind of problem, and my slow propagation of back links, I started having traffic almost instantly. Granted right now it’s only an average of 13 per day, but I made my first two sales on the 20Th day the site was up.

From my calculations that would be 20 days x 13 visitors per day = 260 visitors, for the first two sales. So I am going to see if sales are about 1 sale every 260 people. I’ll get that average when I make my next sale or two. Either way I made my first two sales in 20 days of putting the product up, and no refund so far.

Basically I am really stoked about this process. As traffic goes up, so will my income. My next thing to to is little tweaks here and there to the sales page to see if I can boost sales.

Last week I had my consultation with Alexis Dawes, the creator of Desperate Buyers Only, and she is one of the nicest persons I have ever talked to on the phone. She reviewed my sales page and talked about how I could make it so people would definitely want it more by tweaking some phrasing and doing some cost justification.  We also talked about how to make it more personal, more of an intimate feeling for the person reading the website, making it very close to home so to say.

We I was done I had a really nice feeling and after making those 2 sales the other day, I knew this stuff was for real and plan on several more Desperate Buyers Products. Alexis also gave me her phone number to talk to her anytime about other pages I would be putting up for sale, she said her email inbox in inundated with email everyday and finds it hard to correspond to every single person, but is working on it.

I asked her if I had the latest version and she said I didn’t. so she emailed me the latest edition and along with it came several new pieces added to the package. here’s a list of the new contents:

Yaro Starack is probably one of the most widely known bloggers on the planet. I personally kept running into his blog over and over again, when I was researching different IM strategies. Seems Yaro does a bit of interviewing of other IM’ers, and any time I googled a subject  I would find at least one reference to his blog.

Yaro has done well for himself and teaches people about blogging. Not HOW TO BLOG, but about blogging as a business and how to make a living from it. Man finally someone who is not trying to sell me everythign adn then some, b ut someone who is honest, real and tells a straight story. You have got to check out his site: http://www.entrepreneurs-journey.com, you will find a plethora of information there and you will also find me there as well.

I like to go there to find podcasts about different IM strategies and interviews with other people. A few of the IM strategies I follow I found through Yaros website. and I will probably find a few more. One strategy I found recently that iam checking out is Niche Profit Classroom. It’s a style of Niche marketing that I happen to agree with adn therefore follow, and I foudn it through a podcast from yaros website. If you have a chance to go there do it, you will be amazed at the amount of content and good information he has there. His podcasts are very informative and all the people he interviews are well spoken and knowledgeable. Not to mention a lot of them are “Gurus”.
